🏏 Canterbury Country Squad Preview – 2025/26
(Without Blackcaps, Rhys Mariu, Daryl Mitchell, Zak Foulkes, Henry Nicholls, Kyle Jamieson)
This Country squad has some serious firepower and depth across all departments. The Hawke Cup is firmly in sight, and the team looks ready to mount a strong challenge.
Harry Chamberlain, Archie Redfern, and Jesse Frew are the backbone of the batting lineup. All three can anchor an innings and accelerate when needed.
Expect Harry to be the aggressor, Archie to bring stability, and Jesse to play the dual role with flair.
Who will top the run charts? Early signs point to Harry, but Archie’s consistency and Jesse’s versatility make it a tight race.
Robbie Foulkes, Tim Petrie, Mackenzie Smith, and Brayden Hill will be eager to make early statements.
Tim brings leadership and experience, while Robbie and Mackenzie offer youthful energy and adaptability.
Brayden Hill could be the surprise package—watch for his impact in clutch moments with bat, ball and/or gloves.
Callum Cameron, George Gunn, Sam Chamberlain, Raunaq Kapur, and Ed Nuttell headline the pace and spin attack.
Callum, Ed and George are known for their control and aggression, while Sam and Ranuaq bring variation and tactical nous.
The race for leading wicket-taker will be fierce—especially if conditions favor seam early in the season.
Will Williams, Fraser Sheat and Henry Shipley offer invaluable experience, especially in high-pressure matches.
Cam Paul adds depth and versatility with his all-round skill with bat and ball. Cam could be the surprise package and claim the leading wicket taker and leading run scorer. This has never happened before.
Jordy Frew and Angus Sidey round out a squad that’s balanced and battle-ready.
Canterbury Country were Zone 3 champions last season and narrowly missed reclaiming the Hawke Cup from Taranaki. With this squad, they have every reason to believe they can go one better in 2025/26.
