Daryl Mitchell joins Lincoln and CCCA

Canterbury Country Cricket Association (CCCA) are delighted to announce that BLACKCAP Daryl Mitchell will pledge his club allegiance to Lincoln Cricket Club for 2020 and beyond.

Mitchell relocated south to join up with Canterbury after a successful career with Northern Districts playing over 100 games and pushing himself into the BLACKCAPS, playing 11 T20 Internationals and a single Test where he scored an impressive 73 on debut.

The move south should offer Mitchell more opportunities as he continues to push his case for international selection.

Linking up with the Lincoln Club means Mitchell will be available for selection for the Canterbury Country Men’s side, should the opportunity arise.

CCCA’s Cricket Manager, Toby Doyle said “We are very excited with the prospect of Daryl joining our Association, equally I am thrilled with Daryl’s decision in choosing to ‘play local’ and join the Lincoln Cricket Club who have a team in our CRV Ambreed Country Premier Men’s competition as well as having a strong junior and youth pathway”.

Doyle who played two seasons of Hamilton club cricket with Mitchell in 2012 and 2013 added “Daryl is a true professional and a top bloke, he will add a lot of value to our Country Senior Rep environment when he is available and he will be a great role model for our younger players to look up to”.

Cricket in the Canterbury Country region is rapidly growing and gaining strength. Alongside Henry Nicholls, Mitchell is now the second current BLACKCAP associated with the region as well as four other players currently contracted to Canterbury.

Being the current holders of the Hawke Cup means the 2020/21 season is shaping up to be a big one for Canterbury Country.
