Selection Process:

This season, we are taking a different approach to selecting our Year 11/12 Festival team for the Festival in early December. Over the past few seasons, feedback from players, coaches and whānau has highlighted that a single net trial is not the best way to assess players. We recognise that one trial does not always provide enough opportunity for players to showcase their skills, game understanding and overall potential. We also understand that families and players are increasingly time-poor, and that many of our Year 11/12 athletes are now based in Christchurch for high school. Travelling to additional trials and events can be difficult, so we have developed a selection process that provides greater flexibility and more opportunities for players to be seen.

We are pleased to welcome back Liam Foulkes in the role of Head of Coaching and Pathways. As part of his role, Liam will be delivering a series of optional pre-season training sessions for players who wish to take part. These sessions are designed to support player development and preparation for the season, but attendance is not a requirement for selection. We know many players are involved in school sport, winter programmes and other commitments, and we do not want these commitments to disadvantage anyone.
